Seasonal timing

Merrimack's median first frost falls around October 18, in step with Litchfield and Hollis. A loop that ran short at the far end last winter behaves the same way once heating demand settles in after that date.

Common questions

How much does heating repair cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have heating pros ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that heating problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Heating pros see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Why is the last room on a Merrimack baseboard loop always cooler?

Water gives up heat along the way, so the end of a long run receives cooler water than the start. Adding rooms to that same loop makes the effect worse, and splitting the zone is the usual remedy.

Does adding a room require heating work beyond running more baseboard?

Often it does. The loop length, the circulator and the boiler's output all have limits, and stretching a zone past them shows up as underperformance somewhere else in the house rather than in the new room alone.

How cold does Merrimack get compared with the north of the state?

About 6 nights below zero here against 26 in the far north. Equipment sized for these conditions is not sized for those, which matters if a system was specified from a generic table.

Is uneven heat always a zoning issue?

Not always. Airflow restrictions, a failing circulator or a control set wrong can all look the same from inside the room, so it's worth having the cause identified before paying for new zoning.
